Teaching Artist Job Description:
JOYEMOVEMENT Dance Company is seeking friendly, passionate, and qualified Teaching Artists to facilitate an after-school program. Read below for details!
About the Program:
Uplift Girls invites girls to have open dialogue about their experiences and to be empowered by speaking their truths through dance performance, leadership initiatives, and community building.
The program goal is for girls to go from on the verge of limited choices and lifelong hardship to on the verge of limitless opportunity and leadership in their community.
Through the process of speaking their truths and working toward self- actualization, along with mentorship from positive role models, this is achievable. When girls are able to enhance self esteem, sharpen decision making skills, and set goals for the future their risky behavior greatly decreases.
The Uplift Girls program is in its fifth year of operation and has facilitated the mentorship and empowerment of dozens of young girls and women throughout the Triad.
Teaching Artist Responsibilities:
All Teaching Artists will go through a paid training series to learn best practices and facilitation guidelines and goals for the Uplift Girls Program.
Workshops are held within Guilford County Schools and public facilities. All Teaching Artists are expected to abide by all school and public facility rules and regulations.
Teaching Artists will also be responsible for the following:

Attending weekly workshop planning meetings

Attending monthly training sessions
-
Preparing workshop materials each week
-
Facilitating workshops
-
Assisting and guiding students through an integrative learning experience during workshops.

Completing weekly workshop reports
Pay per Workshop: $40 minimum per workshop, training and planning meetings are also paid.
Please Note: If selected for the position, you will have to complete a background check per Guilford County regulations.

About The Program:
Uplift Girls invites girls ages 9-18, to have open dialogue about their experiences and to be empowered by speaking their truths through culmination in a dance theater performance.
Our program has four core components: Self-Care, Entrepreneurship, Movement and Global Citizenship.
Each workshop session includes self-reflection, discussion, hands-on exploration and opportunity to process their experiences.
Through this workshop and performance experience, the participants will be mentored and guided by
JOYEMOVEMENT company members and other influential women in their community who are mentors.
The project goal is for girls to go from limited choices to limitless opportunity and leadership in their community.
Our inaugural group was launched in 2016 through support from The North Carolina Arts Council Regional Arts Grant Program.
